Leading is not just about setting the tone or creating cultural values, not also creating reward and reinforcement systems. We need to enable leaders at every level to think steps ahead and take decisive action, as the coronavirus has made clear.”

Imagine driving without street signs, traffic signals, or any rules. It’s guidance, that’s what leadership is, it forges a path for following. That doesn’t mean we all need to follow, just that it offers some guidance. And yes, some leadership is poor. Well, why do you ask? Because if no one is taking control, any fool can take leadership.

And what is true is that in the density of chaos, any kind of leadership can help because some simply would not know what to do. It can be wrong leadership, bad leadership, weak leadership, dominating leadership, or good leadership. Ultimately, it is the people who allow the leadership, and when they get fed up enough, a leader will be replaced.

Leaders who can tolerate change are better equipped to handle unexpected challenges and setbacks. They can view these situations as opportunities to learn and improve, rather than as obstacles. Yes, leaders need to have a tolerance for change and uncertainty.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, adaptable leaders who embrace change and see uncertainty as an opportunity are crucial for navigating challenges and thriving. This includes being open to new ideas, adapting strategies, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

A lack of tolerance leads to animosity and a general unwillingness to find ways to get along around our points of difference and disagreement. In some places, this gets murderously extreme, like it did in Rwanda or any other place where genocide took/takes place between different groups who reached the end of their mutual willingness to tolerate differences.

By embracing change and fostering a culture of learning, leaders can motivate and empower their teams. They can create an environment where individuals feel comfortable taking risks, contributing their ideas, and growing their skills. In the long run, leaders who can tolerate change and adapt to a rapidly changing environment are more likely to achieve sustained success. They can navigate challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and stay ahead of the curve.

In conclusion,
Preparing for the worst while hoping for the best is not always thought of as a leadership skill set. This moment is proving that it is. The leaders you want working for you in the next generation. Leadership for the long run calls for thinking about and planning for what needs to be done before being forced to do something.”

Building a high tolerance for uncertainty makes us more adaptable to change. Given how the world is in the 21st century, building a high tolerance for uncertainty is a necessity. Knowing why uncertainty matters and how to build a high tolerance for it, will give you a great advantage in your leadership journey.

Dr. Moses Matur Chol, Ph.D. Assistant Professor,
CSIT Graduate Program Coordinator,
School of Computer Sciences & Information Technology

The ability to develop the leadership potential of those on your team used to be a “nice to have” skill in your ranks, and SPLM/SPLA did very well during t

[792,780

post-3217","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-opinions","category-southsudan
["GET
