Nyieth Demands Robust Inquiry!

JUBA, South Sudan – Following a string of devastating fires that have ravaged major business districts in Juba over the past few weeks, Joseph M. Nyieth is calling for an immediate and thorough investigation amid fears that these incidents are not spontaneous ignitions but rather the work of coordinated arsonists.
The capital has been under attack by fires for a couple of days. There were large fires in Custom Market, Jebel Market and the Sherikat area including an attacked on Youth Mama Church. These fires have burnt hundreds of shops, businesses and adjacent residential houses to the ground and robbed many families of means for a living with people up in economic hard times.

A Pattern of Economic Sabotage
Though officials have tentatively blamed some of the crashes on electrical problems, enough fires and serious ones at that have broken out to alarm local leaders and business owners.
The chairman of the Patriotic People’s Party (PPP), Joseph M. Nyieth, a strong political commentator, has said that kind of timing and type of fire looks like “foul play”.
“These are not coincidences. We are in fact, seeing our economic jugular being systematically targeted,” Nyieth said in a statement issued today. “If businesses and residential houses keep burning in succession within a few weeks, we should not just explain it away as ‘electrical faults’. There is foul play involved here – arsonists determined to destroy this local economy and put fear into the traders.”

The Human Cost
The destruction has been catastrophic. In the Custom Market alone, traders stocked up with anticipation of a busy festive season were wiped out in minutes. The blazes have not been confined only to market stalls but have extended to nearby residential areas, leaving families homeless and homes in ruins.
“The burning of the businesses is an attack on the lives of South Sudanese families,” Nyieth said. “When a market burns, it is not only merchandise that we lose — school fees, medical funds and the daily bread of our people goes up in flames. And none of this is even recognizing the absolute deafening silence around the source of these fires.”

Call for a Proper Investigation
Nyieth is calling for more than just standard inquiries by the government and Juba City Council to probe the outbreaks, instead calling for forensic investigations. He added that if there is any truth to the arsonists claim, they should be arrested and thrown in jail until their trials are over so a good example can be set for those anarchists not yet caught.
His pronouncement set forth three “tests”:

Independent Enquiry: An ad hoc taskforce of police and fire brigade experts as well as community representatives be established to establish the cause of each recent fire in Juba.

Protection of Assets: The immediate posting of security staff to undertake night patrols in leading markets and residential business districts.

Help for Victims: Immediate release of emergency funding to support traders and homeowners who have had their properties destroyed in these suspicious fires.
Conclusion
As Juba struggles with these tragedies, the demand for accountability is rising. The prospect of arson has transfigured fear into anger, and many people feel that they are not being protected.
“We would not sit idle or watch our capital burn,” Nyieth said. “We deserve answers, we deserve justice, and we deserve to know who is holding the matchstick.”
Relevant Video Coverage
For more background on the recent fires in Juba, including what happened at Sherikat, watch this report:
Recent Incidents of Fire in Juba
Again, here is a visual testament of the new fires in Juba (including Custom Market and Sherikat) and talks about the increasing public skepticism on how these fires have come to be, pertaining to what has been mentioned above.

YouTube subscribers who watch your video will be recorded and stored in YouTube History and you can manage and delete these information with those features of YouTube Your data: We do not store or collect any of your data When it comes to Zoom/Google Calendar This countdown does not have access to your google calendar events or zoom calls For further details, please check this link from Google https://support.minecraftforge.net/hc/en-us/articles/360006785791-Permissions-With-checkout, as you’re moving toward the door at a very fast speed (‘check out’ is an expression that means you strike),” “Well after some planning we checked out awhile ago!

JUBA, South Sudan – Following a string of devastating fires that have ravaged major business…

[786,830,842,643,1,792,780

post-3908","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-africa","category-breaking-news","category-economy-news","category-more-articles","category-news","category-opinions","category-southsudan
["GET
